Over 200 digitally-savvy marketing professionals descended on the Hilton Hotel in Burlington on Thursday, November 14th to attend the 3rd annual Vermont Web Marketing Summit, presented by Curve Trends Marketing, a South Burlington, Vermont based digital marketing agency offering a full range of digital and online marketing services. Additional event sponsorship support was provided by full service marketing agency Kelliher Samets Volk.
The day long event began with an engaging keynote presentation by Brad Robertson, former publisher of the Burlington Free Press and current President of gannettlocal. Robertson’s appearance at the summit was partly underwritten by Vergennes-based DR Power, and the theme of the presentation — the fading boundary between new and traditional media — was a topic that formed a common thread for presentations throughout the course of the day.
Presenters included a host of experienced speakers and thought leaders from leading companies such as Burton Snowboards, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and Dealer.com, while other speakers brought agency perspectives to the event.
Noted industry speakers contributing their expertise from outside the immediate area included Alex Langshur (Cardinal Path), Dan Ouellette (Catalyst Online) and Jonathan Hochman (SEMNE and Hochman Consultants) among others.
Presenter Nicole Ravlin of PMG Public Relations, who spoke on the evolving relationship between public relations and social media, commented that “There is a thirst for digital education in Vermont, and it is great that events like the Vermont Web Marketing Summit are able to bring people together to meet the need.”
The response from summit attendees was immediate and uniformly positive. The twitter hashtag (#vtweb2012) created for the event was busy with tweets sharing bits of knowledge picked up in the various sessions. Some of the feedback received included comments like “…excellent content for web marketing newbies & vets today. Knowledgeable dynamic speakers…”
